Musical pioneer, English singer, songwriter, record producer, painter and actor David Bowie has died of liver cancer on 1/10/16. He was a figure in popular music for over five decades, and was considered by critics and other musicians as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. Somalian model & beauty mogul Iman married the musician in 1992 in Tuscany, he wearing tails and she in an elegant halter-top gown. They lived a jet-set life that included his music and her beauty business but always as much privacy as they could manage. Bowie’s son, a filmmaker Duncan Jones was from his first wife, Angie.  In the year 2000 he and Iman welcomed a daughter named Alexandria Zahra Jones, whom they called ”Lexi.” Iman once said, “I am married to David Jones. David Bowie and David Jones are two totally different people”

A week before his death, with his latest work entitled Blackstar nearing release, David Bowie called his longtime friend and producer Tony Visconti via FaceTime, and told him he wanted to make one more album. In what turned out to have been the final weeks of his life, Bowie wrote five fresh songs, and was anxious to return to the studio one last time. Bowie had known since November that his cancer was terminal
Visconti recounts first learning of Bowie’s illness a year ago, when he showed up for Blackstar recording sessions in New York. “He just came fresh from a chemo session, and he had no eyebrows, and he had no hair on his head,” says Visconti, “and there was no way he could keep it a secret from the band. But he told me privately, and I really got choked up when we sat face to face talking about it.”
Bowie’s impact was enormous; he changed the nature of rock music, and changed his own approach repeatedly. During his career, he sold an estimated 140 million records worldwide. In the UK, he was awarded nine platinum album certifications, eleven gold and eight silver, and in the US received five platinum and seven gold certifications. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.
